ISLAMABAD — Dr Uzma Khanum, sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, has approached the Supreme Court seeking contempt proceedings against respondents for allegedly violating the court’s August 18 order.
The petition, filed through PTI Secretary-General Salman Akram Raja and lawyer Uzair Bhandari, names Chief Commissioner Islamabad (Retd) Lt Sohail Ashraf, Interior Secretary Ahmed Raza Sarwar, Punjab Inspector General Prisons Mian Salik Jalal, Adiala Jail Superintendent Sajid Baig, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar and Information Minister Attaullah Tarar as respondents.
The petitioner alleged that the respondents had deliberately and willfully violated the clear directions issued by the Supreme Court on August 18.
The petition further sought initiation of contempt proceedings and a directive for Imran Khan to receive proper medical treatment at a private medical facility.
Earlier, Imran Khan was taken to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for a medical check-up amid security concerns and was subsequently shifted back to Adiala Jail. PTI leadership and Dr Uzma Khanum criticised the government’s handling of the matter.
