GUJRANWALA — An integrated strategy adopted by Sialkot Police under the leadership of DPO Sialkot Captain (retd) Dost Muhammad has resulted in a significant decline in crime across the district.
According to available data, property-related crimes, including robbery, burglary, car theft and car snatching, fell by 66 percent in July 2026 compared with January 2025. The number of cases declined from 902 to 301.
In areas covered by Safe City cameras, crime dropped by nearly 84 percent, from 257 incidents to 40. In areas without camera coverage, incidents also declined from 645 to 261, representing a reduction of nearly 60 percent.
Comparative figures for January-July 2025 and 2026 show that overall crime fell from 4,861 cases to 2,772, a decline of around 43 percent. Crime in Safe City coverage areas decreased by approximately 62 percent during the same period.
Police said the use of Safe City camera information, identification of crime hotspots, effective patrolling, surveillance of suspects, intelligence-based operations, rapid response, modern evidence-based investigation and timely information sharing contributed to the reduction.
DPO Sialkot Captain (retd) Dost Muhammad said protection of citizens’ lives and property remains the top priority of Sialkot Police. He stressed that combining modern technology with traditional policing is essential for effective crime control.
He said stronger coordination between Safe City, the Crime Control Department and Sialkot Police has made crime prevention, timely action and the arrest of suspects more effective. He added that operations against criminal elements would continue until crime is completely eradicated.
