ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, H.E. Khalil Hashmi, said Pakistan-China economic relations are entering a new phase of investment-led business-to-business (B2B) cooperation aimed at translating the two countries’ strong political ties into greater trade, investment and industrial partnerships.
Addressing an interactive session at the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), he said the Pakistan Embassy has identified 21 priority sectors for investment cooperation and organized several B2B conferences and investment roadshows, resulting in over 670 MoUs, around 40 joint ventures, and investment commitments exceeding US$22 billion. He stressed the need to convert these agreements into operational projects and sustainable investments.
ICCI President Sardar Tahir Mehmood said China remains Pakistan’s most trusted strategic economic partner and emphasized expanding private-sector collaboration, technology transfer and joint ventures. He added that ICCI is committed to strengthening business linkages and facilitating Chinese investment through its Business Facilitation Desks in Guangzhou and Islamabad.
