Visa has outlined new AI, token and stablecoin capabilities for clients across the Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEMEA) region as it prepares for the Visa Payments Forum in Paris on July 1.
According to the company, two major shifts are shaping commerce and money movement: artificial intelligence and stablecoins. Visa said it is building infrastructure and intelligence to help clients adapt to more intelligent and embedded commerce experiences.
“Commerce is entering a new phase that is increasingly intelligent, programmable, and embedded into everyday experiences,” said Tareq Muhmood, Regional President, Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa, Visa. He added that businesses serving the digital economy face a major opportunity, along with a need for trust and interoperability.
Visa said AI is changing how transactions are initiated, authorized and trusted, while also speeding up the creation of new commerce experiences. Through Visa Intelligent Commerce, the company said it aims to support agentic commerce with the controls needed to securely discover, initiate and complete transactions.
The company also introduced tools to support merchant readiness and trust in agent led transactions, including Agent Score, developed with New Generation, and Agentic Directory, which lists verified agents and merchants involved in agentic commerce.
Visa said tokenization remains a key driver of eCommerce growth in CEMEA. The company reported that tokenized transactions in the region rose from 26% in 2023 to 70% in 2026. Visa added that it is enriching token data and introducing a token assurance signal to provide more context and trust for digital and AI driven payments.
On the back end of money movement, Visa said it is expanding stablecoin settlement pilots and blockchain based infrastructure. The company said settlement volumes in CEMEA have increased nearly 60 times since the launch of stablecoin settlement capabilities a year ago.
Visa also said it is building on tokenized deposits and expanding stablecoin linked card programs, with more than 160 programs live or in development globally. In addition, Visa launched Visa Trip Intelligence in CEMEA, an AI powered travel capability that uses VisaNet intelligence and third party data to infer travel intent and provide personalized trip insights.
