Senator Saleem Mandviwalla on Monday handed over a substantial Jinnah Hospital donation of medical and surgical supplies, patient beds and other essential equipment to the hospital management in Karachi in collaboration with PEI.
Speaking at the ceremony, he said the education and health sectors continue to face serious pressure and require practical support. He noted that he had adopted 50 schools for transformation and improved functionality, saying the initiative is under way and moving toward completion.
Mandviwalla also referred to his recent visit to Lyari Hospital, where he said services were operating effectively and patients had expressed satisfaction with the facilities available to them.
He stressed that the public needs support and assistance, and said it is the responsibility of authorities to ensure the provision of essential services. Calling the effort a poverty alleviation measure, he described it as an important step toward strengthening healthcare delivery and added that similar support would also be extended to Balochistan.
The senator said donations should match the actual needs of institutions and be used effectively for the wider public benefit. He underlined that the initiative reflects public service and not political interest.
He further said national progress depends on collective effort and urged people to focus on improvement rather than criticism alone. Constructive criticism, he added, is welcome, but unfair criticism and discrimination should be avoided.
Responding to questions, Mandviwalla said a complete list of the donated equipment had been shared and that its use would be monitored to ensure transparency and accountability. He added that hospitals remain responsible for administrative operations and compliance.
The PEI director also described the initiative as timely and necessary, saying such efforts should continue to support public welfare, especially in underserved and vulnerable areas.
