ISLAMABAD– The Senate of Pakistan is scheduled to take up a range of legislative business during its session on October 20, including standing committee reports, the introduction of a government bill, and consideration of legislation passed by the National Assembly and bills reported back by standing committees.
According to the session agenda, three standing committee reports are scheduled for presentation. These include the Right of Access to Information (Amendment) Bill, 2023, introduced by Senator Dr. Zarqa Suharwardy Taimur on November 20, 2023; the Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2025, introduced by Senator Mohammad Abdul Qadir on December 1, 2025; and the Right of Access to Information (Amendment) Bill, 2021, introduced by Senators Manzoor Ahmed and Mirza Muhammad Afridi on January 25, 2021.
The government is also scheduled to introduce the Naya Pakistan Housing and Development Authority (Repeal) Bill, 2026, as part of the legislative business before the House.
The Senate agenda further includes two government bills passed by the National Assembly and transmitted to the upper house for consideration. These are the Inter-Boards Coordination Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2026, and the Islamabad Capital Territory Private Educational Institutions (Registration and Regulation) (Amendment) Bill, 2026.
In addition, two bills introduced in the Senate and subsequently examined by the relevant standing committees are scheduled to be taken up following their reports back to the House. These are the Area Study Centres (Amendment) Bill, 2026, and the Centre for Clinical Psychology Centres (Amendment) Bill, 2026.
The scheduled business covers matters relating to access to information, public broadcasting, housing and development administration, educational institutions, inter-board coordination and clinical psychology centres.
The listed items form part of the Senate's legislative agenda for October 20. Their inclusion in the agenda does not, by itself, indicate that the bills will be passed during the session.
