ISLAMABAD — The central leadership of the Jammu and Kashmir Community International (JKCI) has congratulated Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif for highlighting the Kashmir issue during his address to the United Nations General Assembly.
JKCI said that raising the fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people, the human rights situation and their right to self-determination at the UN platform had drawn renewed international attention to the longstanding issue.
The organization emphasized that the Jammu and Kashmir dispute is a longstanding international issue and said its sustainable resolution requires justice, respect for international principles and consideration of the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
JKCI called upon the international community, particularly the United Nations, to fulfill its responsibilities effectively and support peaceful efforts toward a just resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir issue, enabling the Kashmiri people to determine their political future in accordance with the principle of self-determination.
JKCI reaffirmed its commitment to continuing peaceful political and diplomatic efforts, in cooperation with Kashmiris living around the world, to highlight the Kashmir issue internationally.
