Murree—- Fire safety and emergency preparedness mock drills were conducted at public and private hospitals across Murree to assess emergency response capabilities and ensure the safe evacuation of patients and staff.
The drills were organized by Rescue 1122 Murree under the supervision of the District Emergency Officer, in accordance with the directions of the Chief Secretary, Secretary Emergency Services, Government of Punjab, and Deputy Commissioner Murree Agha Zaheer Abbas Sherazi.
During the exercises, Rescue 1122 personnel and hospital staff demonstrated their response to simulated fire and emergency situations, including firefighting, rescue operations, safe evacuation of affected persons, provision of first aid, and coordination between emergency response teams.
Special emphasis was placed on continuing practical training and mock exercises for hospital-based Emergency Response Teams on a monthly basis.
The drills also assessed hospitals’ emergency response time, administrative supervision, communication and coordination mechanisms, fire safety arrangements, and the availability of emergency resources. Potential shortcomings were identified during the exercises, with measures initiated to address them in a timely manner.
The district administration and Rescue 1122 directed hospital administrations to ensure strict compliance with fire safety protocols, keep emergency exits clear and accessible at all times, maintain safety equipment in operational condition, and ensure the regular training and practical preparedness of emergency response teams.
The district administration and Rescue 1122 Murree emphasized that public safety is a continuous responsibility. Regular assessment of safety arrangements, practical training of hospital staff, and timely and coordinated response to emergencies will be ensured at every level to protect precious human lives and minimize potential losses.
