ISLAMABAD — Acting President and Chairman Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Tuesday launched the Senate Mobile Application, calling it a major step towards digital empowerment, institutional efficiency and a more transparent and responsive parliamentary system.
Addressing the launching ceremony at Parliament House, Gilani said the initiative marked a new phase in the Senate’s digital transformation and represented “a new way of working, a new way of thinking and a new way of serving the people of Pakistan.”
He said the application would modernise parliamentary operations, save time, improve efficiency and strengthen communication between Parliament and citizens. He also highlighted the Senate’s e-office system, digital archives, website and social media platforms as part of wider efforts to improve transparency and public access to authentic parliamentary information.
Acting Chairman Senate Syedaal Khan Nasar said the application was an important milestone in modernising the Senate’s working methods, while Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhary termed it another step towards a more accessible, efficient and responsive Parliament.
Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja welcomed Parliament’s digitisation efforts, saying digital transformation had become essential across governance and public institutions. She said the initiative went beyond a mobile application and reflected a broader process of digital transformation.
Senate Secretary Syed Hasnain Haider briefed participants that the application had been developed by the Senate’s IT Department to modernise working procedures and facilitate the efficient dissemination of parliamentary information.
