LAHORE –Pakistan Ulema Council Chairman Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi has said the emerging strategic partnership between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye could play a significant role in promoting unity, peace and collective security across the Muslim world.
Addressing a policy forum titled “The Makkah Pact and the New Geometry of Power”, Ashrafi said Saudi Arabia’s restraint during the recent regional crisis helped prevent the situation from escalating into a broader Arab-Iranian confrontation.
He also highlighted the role of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, saying his engagement with the Saudi leadership reflected a strategic understanding of the need to prevent regional tensions from turning into conflict among Muslim countries.
Ashrafi said Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye could emerge as important pillars of regional stability and Muslim unity. He also praised the solidarity demonstrated among different schools of thought in Pakistan during the crisis.
