QUETTA — The security situation remains tense in Qila Abdullah following two separate incidents, including an attack on a police van in which 15 prisoners were forcibly freed.
According to sources, unidentified armed men intercepted a police van at Abdullah Khan Cross, overpowered the police personnel and took away 15 prisoners being transported in the vehicle. The attackers also reportedly snatched weapons from the police personnel before fleeing the area.
Meanwhile, the Quetta-Chaman International Highway has remained blocked since yesterday following a protest over the alleged kidnapping of a person. Protesters have said the highway will remain closed until the abducted person is safely recovered.
The two incidents have raised serious concerns over the security situation in the district, particularly the escape of a large number of prisoners from police custody.
No official statement has so far been issued by police or other relevant authorities regarding the incident or the ongoing search for the escaped prisoners.
