Islamabad: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Kisan Wing has issued a detailed white paper on the wheat crisis, blaming policy failures, government uncertainty and rising production costs for the decline in wheat production.
The white paper reviews 79 years of agricultural policies, wheat production, procurement, support prices, import decisions and agricultural research.
The PTI Kisan Wing called for timely and guaranteed wheat procurement, affordable agricultural inputs, modern seeds and technology, improved irrigation systems and a long-term national agricultural policy.
Sheikh Waqas Akram and other leaders said protecting farmers is essential to ensuring national food security and urged that agriculture be made an immediate national priority.
