QUETTA: A protest sit in with the bodies of police personnel martyred in the recent Ziarat tragedy entered its fifth consecutive day on Saturday on the main highway in Quetta, with thousands of people from political parties, civil society, the business community, and various schools of thought taking part. The protest was launched after the attack on a police security camp in the Mangi Dam area of Ziarat district and the subsequent killing of kidnapped police personnel. Demonstrators demanded immediate measures to prevent such attacks, justice for the martyred officers, and a transparent investigation through an independent judicial commission.BNP chief Sardar Akhtar Jan Mengal joined the sit in and addressed the participants. Several other leaders, including Sadiq Khan Achakzai, Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal, Nasrullah Khan Zerey, Hafiz Hamdullah, and Asghar Khan Achakzai, also spoke at the gathering, expressing solidarity with the victims’ families and calling for accountability and improved security. The sit in remained peaceful, with protesters pledging to continue their demonstration until their demands are addressed by the authorities.
