MITHI — Financially distressed journalist Ghulam Rasool Brohi, a resident of Shadi Large town in Badin district, has appealed to the Sindh government, elected representatives and philanthropists for urgent financial assistance to save his critically ill daughter.
Brohi said his family had been facing severe financial hardship due to the prolonged illnesses of his children. His eldest son has been receiving treatment for a heart condition at hospitals in Nawabshah and Hyderabad for the past six years, while his daughter has been suffering from chronic health complications for nearly 15 years.
He said he had spent more than Rs3 million on his children's medical treatment, exhausting his family's savings. His daughter's condition has reportedly deteriorated over the past week due to liver and respiratory complications. Doctors in Badin have advised shifting her to a better-equipped hospital for specialised treatment.
According to Brohi, his daughter's treatment is expected to cost between Rs250,000 and Rs300,000, an amount he can no longer afford due to unemployment, his own deteriorating health and mounting financial difficulties.
He appealed to Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, the Sindh Information Department, elected representatives, the Badin district chairman, Deputy Commissioner Badin and charitable organisations to provide immediate financial assistance.
Brohi urged the authorities and philanthropists to intervene on humanitarian grounds, saying timely support could help save his daughter's life and provide much-needed relief to his struggling family.
