Strong Protest Against Expensive Electricity, Taxes and Arrests Today: Shahid Abbasi
SHARE

Report: Ms Shah FT

ISLAMABAD– Executive Member of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) and General Secretary of G-9 Markaz, Shahid Abbasi, has said that traders will hold a strong protest today against expensive electricity, taxes and arrests.

He demanded that traders be spared repeated visits to government offices, notices and alleged harassment, and called for greater facilitation for the business community.

Shahid Abbasi urged the relevant authorities to consult the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce, market associations and trader representatives before taking action over shopping bags, and to provide a clear policy along with reasonable time for compliance.

He questioned why manufacturers were not being targeted if certain shopping bags were illegal, saying the government and relevant institutions should address the root cause of the issue.

He said traders were not against environmental protection and wanted Islamabad to remain clean, beautiful and pollution-free. However, he added that humiliating traders in the name of environmental protection was unacceptable. Authorities should provide suitable alternatives and facilities before enforcing the regulations.
