MUZAFFARABAD — Dr Muhammad Najeeb Naqi was sworn in as the new President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir at a ceremony held at the Presidency on Thursday.
Chief Justice of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan administered the oath, while Chief Secretary Khushal Khan read out the notification announcing Dr Najeeb Naqi’s election.
The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister AJK Iftikhar Gilani, Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs Amir Muqam, Federal Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Advisor to the Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah, Speaker AJK Legislative Assembly Chaudhry Tariq Farooq, senior judges, former prime ministers, ministers, legislators, senior civil and police officers and people from across Azad Kashmir.
Following the oath-taking, a smartly turned-out police contingent presented a guard of honour to the newly sworn-in president.
