ISLAMABAD — Chief Commissioner Regional Tax Office (RTO) Islamabad Yasmeen Fatima has urged retailers and small shopkeepers to register under the government’s Simplified Income Tax Regime, known as the Aasan Tajir Scheme, and file their returns by September 30, 2026.
Speaking at an interactive session at the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), she said the scheme aims to simplify taxation, promote voluntary compliance and bring more businesses into the formal economy.
Yasmeen Fatima said traders with annual turnover of up to Rs200 million could opt for the simplified regime, with a minimum annual tax of Rs25,000. Eligible traders would also remain exempt from audit under the scheme. Registration has been facilitated through the Tax Asaan App, while the relevant form is also available in Urdu.
She said registered shops would display a Green Plate carrying a QR code to promote transparency and indicate compliance.
Earlier, Yasmeen Fatima and ICCI President Sardar Tahir Mehmood inaugurated an Income Tax Facilitation Desk at the ICCI premises. The desk will provide one-window assistance to traders regarding registration, return filing and other tax-related matters.
Sardar Tahir Mehmood appreciated the initiative, describing it as a practical step towards addressing traders’ concerns and strengthening cooperation between tax authorities and the business community. He assured the RTO of ICCI’s full cooperation in creating awareness about the Aasan Tajir Scheme.
